* How does the multiemployer environment affect the sampling strategy?

Since participant and contribution records are maintained at multiple locations, the sample must be designed to include a sufficient coverage of these locations.

Samples can be selected more easily since there are more locations to select from.

In a multiemployer plan, tests of controls and substantive testing are both required in all material transaction classes.

Sample size is dictated by the Taft-Hartley Act; auditor judgment is not permitted for multiemployer plans.
