Because the contracts could be amended, postretirement obligations are not required to be recorded.

The benefit obligations should include the postretirement benefit obligation.

Since the employers in the multiemployer plan are not required to record this on their own financial statements, the plan is not required to report it either.

Any postretirement obligations should be reported by the employers in the agreement; only if they do not record it, should it be recorded on the plan's financial statements.
