A survey by Manchester Inc. found that coaching provided an average ROI of almost six times the cost. As a knowledge worker in a complex organization, you have an excellent opportunity provide fellow employees with help in developing and growing their skills and knowledge. This is greatest gift you can provide to your co-workers and peers.

Mentoring and coaching are NOT the same and shouldn’t be conducted in the same way. Mentoring helps channel guidance into self-development by giving information, ideas and guidance and letting the mentee find opportunities to test and practice. Coaching includes real-time observation and feedback on what was observed (good and constructive). The critical piece is that both requires a committed relationship in order to work. Within all organizations, there are many misunderstandings and myths about coaching and mentoring. It is critical you gain the facts on how to properly execute both.
