Ideas can change a whole industry or the way that it operates. For example the adoption of Kaizen and the balanced scorecard techniques have had a dramatic impact. This article considers the ways business ideas have altered and says that too little credit has been given to the development of management thinking. Business ideas can change not only business but society as well with individuals, such as Steve Jobs changing the way we live.

Having have worked all my working life as a public servant, i have noticed that, it is a notion that public service does not need professionals. Professional have no value to add to the public service because there is no need for innovation or new ideas in the public office. That bureaucratic ways of both work and dealing with issues are the way and culture of public service. I have been advice by both management and colleagues to seek employment in the private sector, which is challenging when you have only worked for public service. We are viewed as both uneducated, incompetent, lacking both motivation and work ethic. This article helped me realize that innovative ideas are important in all sectors, including the public sector. This article point out the importance of management ideas , which i find relevant to me as a management accountant. The article outline that  management ideas are important as they can change an entire industry, they management matters because they get thing done, they can be catalyst for a better future, and help change the world. These are all essential and relevant for the  public sector. The impact of this article to me is the motivation to continue as a member of CIMA, even though it seems to not have any impact on my career thus far. What i need to do is to demand more challenging roles, that will in turn help me prove to management the need for professionals in the public service. I also need to put myself in positions where i can influence and educate management on the difference that I as a management accountant bring to the table. I can in turn be an example and motivation to my fellow public servants to also further their studies and obtain professional qualification. As for my career, if management realize the importance of management accountant they will readily advocate for promotions or even secondment to areas that may require an intellectual capacity.
